Prithvi Shaw is determined to revive his career following a challenging year. The talented right-handed batsman is currently in England, representing Northamptonshire, where he showcased his potential in a warm-up inter-team match for the Steelbacks, scoring an impressive half-century. Unfortunately, Shaw faced a setback in IPL 2023 when he lost his spot in the starting XI of Delhi Capitals due to a series of low scores during the initial phase of the tournament. Nonetheless, his recent performance suggests a positive step towards regaining his form and momentum in the game.
Prithvi Shaw faced disappointment as he missed out on a spot in the Indian squad for the three-match series in Ireland this month and the upcoming Asian Games. Despite selectors naming a second-level team for both series, Shaw’s name was not included. The right-handed batsman had a challenging season in this year’s Indian Premier League, constantly grappling with batting form, leading to him being dropped from the playing eleven for Delhi Capitals. In 8 matches, he managed only 106 runs with an average of less than 14.
Prithvi Shaw roars back to form
After his last appearance for India during the Sri Lanka tour in July 2021, Prithvi Shaw is determined to reignite his career. Although he earned a recall for the T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year, he did not get an opportunity to play and was subsequently dropped from the team.
To regain his form and make a mark, Shaw has taken a significant step by signing up with Northamptonshire for his debut county stint. His journey in England has started promisingly, as he displayed his aggressive batting style during a warm-up inter-team match for the Steelbacks. The talented youngster blazed an impressive 65 runs off just 39 balls, setting a positive tone for his stint with the county.
