Cheteshwar Pujara, the leading batsman of the Indian Test team, was bought at the auction after a long wait of seven years. Chennai Super Kings bought Pujara for his base price of Rs 50 lakhs. Pujara played his last IPL match in May 2014.
Apart from Pujara, Chennai Super Kings also bought England spin all-rounder Moeen Ali for Rs 7 Crore.
The Test number 3 will now may get the opportunity to open the innings for the Chennai Super Kings in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.
Over the years Chennai have invested in experienced players, Pujara may not have played much T20s but in 2019 he scored century in near to 50 balls in the domestic cricket for Saurashtra
