Punjab maintained its winning streak by clinching the overall trophy at the 11th National Gatka Championship, which concluded at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi late Thursday night. Organized by the National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), the oldest registered Gatka organization in the country, the championship saw Chandigarh securing the runner-up position, while Haryana State achieved third place. This prestigious national event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 900 boys and girls representing 14 states. The competition was jointly organized by the NGAI, in association with the host state Gatka Association of Delhi and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
DSGMC President presented certificates
On the final day of the championship, Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), presented certificates and trophies to the deserving winners. He was accompanied by Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of the National Gatka Association, Sarvjit Singh Virk, Chairman of the Gatka Association of Delhi, and Executive Member of DSGMC, along with other distinguished DSGMC members, including Gurdev Singh, Paramjit Singh Chandok, Jaspreet Singh Vicky Mann, Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, Parvinder Singh Lucky, Harminder Pal Singh, Manjit Singh Bhoma, and Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, Senior Vice President of the International Sikh Martial Arts Council and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court.
During his address, Harmeet Singh Kalka congratulated both Gatka Associations for successfully organizing a national-level Gatka competition in Delhi. He emphasized the DSGMC’s commitment to promoting the Sikh martial art of Gatka and assured unwavering support for NGAI’s Gatka initiatives. As a token of appreciation, Harmeet Singh Kalka, along with all DSGMC members and other distinguished guests, was felicitated on this occasion.
Among others present on the occasion included NGAI Vice President Sukhchain Singh Kalsani, Finance Secretary Baljit Singh Saini, Secretary Simranjit Singh, President of Gatka Association of Delhi Gurmeet Singh Rana, General Secretary JP Singh, Finance Secretary Major Singh, Joginder Singh Budhvihar, Gatka Association of Punjab Vice President Inderjodh Singh and Sarabjit Singh, Joint Secretary Ramandeep Singh Shanti.
The final results of the 11th National Gatka Championship were as follows;
Girls: (Under-14 years age group) In this category Punjab came first in Gatka Soti (Individual), Haryana second while Uttarakhand and Maharashtra declared third joint winners. In Gatka Soti (Team Event) competitions, Punjab got first position, Haryana second while Delhi and Telangana came third jointly. In Soti-Farrie (individual) Punjab girls achieved first place, Uttarakhand second while Chandigarh and Jharkhand team came third jointly. Similarly, Punjab came first, Uttarakhand second while Haryana and Andhra Pradesh came third in the Soti-Farrie (team event) competitions.
Boys: (Under-14 age group) In this category Uttarakhand boys came first in Gatka Soti (Individual), Haryana second while Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab were declared jointly third winners. In Gatka Soti (Team Event), Punjab got first position, Uttarakhand second while Rajasthan and Haryana came third jointly. In Soti-Farrie (individual), the boys of Delhi came first, Uttarakhand second while Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab got third position jointly. Similarly, Uttarakhand came first, Punjab second while Chandigarh and Delhi came third in Soti-Farrie (team event) competitions.
Haryana got first position in Gatka Soti
Girls: (Under-17) In this category Haryana got first position in Gatka Soti (Individual), Maharashtra second while Chandigarh and Punjab came jointly third. In the same age group, Haryana came first Gatka Soti (Team Event), Chandigarh second whereas Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana declared joint third. In Soti-Farrie (individual) competitions Punjab girls achieved first, Delhi second while Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir teams came third. Similarly, in Soti-Fari (Team Event), Punjab got first, Haryana second while Chandigarh and Jharkhand were joint third.
Boys: (Under-17) In this category Punjab boys achieved first place in Gatka Soti (Individual), Delhi second whereas Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana got jointly third position. In Gatka Soti (Team Event), Punjab came first, Haryana second while Delhi and Maharashtra got joint third. In Soti-Farrie (individual) events, Punjab boys got first position, Chandigarh second whereas Delhi and Telangana came third jointly. Similarly, in Soti-Farrie (Team Event), Jammu and Kashmir came first, Haryana second and Chandigarh and Delhi joint third.
Girls: (Under-19 years age group) Chandigarh girls got first position in Gatka Soti (Individual), Haryana second while Telangana and Punjab came joint third place. In Gatka Soti (Team Event), Chandigarh came first place in this category, Chhattisgarh second while Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir jointly declared third winners. In Soti-Farrie (individual) competitions, Haryana girls defeated Chandigarh who has got second position while Telangana and Maharashtra came third. Similarly, in Soti-Farrie (Team Event), Punjab gy first position, Chandigarh second while Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand were the joint winners of third place.
In the same category, the boys of Punjab got first position in the Gatka Soti (Individual) event, Delhi second whereas Chandigarh and Chhattisgarh achieved third position jointly. In Gatka Soti (Team Event), Punjab came first, Chhattisgarh second whereas Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand got joint third position. In the Soti-Farrie (individual) competitions, the boys of Chandigarh were the winners, Haryana runners up whereas Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir declared jointly third winners. Similarly, in the Soti-Farrie (team event) Punjab got first position, Chandigarh second whereas Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir came third.
Girls: (in under 22 years of age category) Chandigarh came first in Gatka Soti (Individual), Punjab second while Jharkhand and Delhi got third place jointly. In the same age group, Chandigarh girls got first position in Gatka Soti (Team Event), Punjab second while the team from Haryana and Jharkhand jointly got third position. In the Soti-Farrie (individual) competitions the girls of Chandigarh got first position, Haryana came second while Bihar and Punjab were declared jointly third position.
Similarly, Chandigarh came first, Punjab second and Haryana and Bihar joint third in the Soti-Farrie (team event) competitions. In the same age group the boys of Chandigarh came first in Gatka Soti (Individual), Haryana second whereas Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir got jointly third position. In Gatka Soti (Team Event), Chandigarh was the winner, Haryana second while Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi jointly came third. In Soti-Farrie (Individual) competitions, the boys of Chandigarh came first, Punjab second while Delhi and Uttarakhand got joint third place. Similarly, in Soti-Farrie (Team Event) competitions, Punjab was the winner whereas Chandigarh was second and Haryana and Delhi got joint third position.
Girls: (Under 25) In this age category, Punjab came first in Gatka Soti (Individual), Chandigarh second while Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi were declared joint winners for third place. In the same age group Punjab got first position in Gatka Soti (Team Event) competitions, Delhi second while Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand got third jointly. In Soti-Farrie (individual) events, Punjab girls came first, Delhi second whereas Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir got jointly third place. Similarly, in Soti-Fari (Team Event), Punjab was the winner, Delhi runners up whereas Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir got jointly third place. In the same age group, the Punjab boys won the Gatka Soti (Individual) competition. Chandigarh came second whereas Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir achieved third position jointly. In Gatka Soti (Team Event) Haryana came first, Chandigarh second while Jharkhand and Punjab team jointly won third place.
In the Soti-Farrie (individual) event, the boys of Chandigarh came first, Punjab got second and Haryana and Jharkhand managed jointly third place. Similarly, in Soti-Farrie (Team Event), Chandigarh got first, Punjab second while Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir got jointly third position.
