R. Ashwin: Finally, R. Ashwin has broken the silence to the news revolving around his World Test Championship 2023 snub. The number 1 test bowler was shockingly dropped from Indian playing xi for the WTC 2023 final.
The decision by the selection committee met with lots of criticism around the globe. Many National and International greats showed their unhappiness with the decision by the Indian coaching staff and questioned the intention behind it.
But amidst all the noise, the completely silent person was none other than Ranvicharan Ashwin himself. And finally, Ashwin broke down and stated how it felt to be left out of the squad for the World Test Championship finals.

Hard question to answer
When asked about his snub from the Playing XI, Ashwin stated that it is a hard question to answer. He wanted to be part of the squad but was heartbroken when he was not selected. He further stated that he has been amazing in overseas conditions for the last two years.
Ashwin also mentioned his last finals performance, where he took 4 wickets. He further stated that he understands the decision taken by the coach and staff to include only one spinner. Ashwin also talked about the problem with a spinner in test cricket.
I am my own critic
R. Ashwin was completely honest and brutal when he stated that he does not think what others are thinking of him. He further added that he is 36 years old. He is at a stage in his career where he can’t think about what others are saying.
“I’ll be my own critic,” the off-spinner stated. Ashwin further stated that he was happy when legends of the game texted him and thought he was good enough to play. But in the end, the sadness took over once again as the reality of not being picked for playing XI struck.
