R. Praggnanandhaa has been on fire in the ongoing Norway Chess tournament. A few days ago he defeated the World No.1 Magnus Carlsen for the first time in classical chess.
On Sunday, he defeated the World No.2 Fabiano Caruana for the first time and entered the Top 10 of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Rankings. It is a massive victory for the 18-year old as he suffered a loss in his previous game in the competition.
The Norway competition has been fierce so far and this victory will go a long way for the Indian prodigy. After this historic victory, Pragg jumped to third in the competition behind Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura.

It was a sensational victory by Pragg who showed brilliant endurance and resilience while carving out this victory. The match reached a theoretical draw after the 40th move and everyone thought the same.
But Pragg’s persistence flourished when Caruana blundered his last pawn on his 66th move. This blunder allowed the Indian grandmaster to secure the victory after 11 more moves in brilliant fashion.
The victory has set the world ablaze and everyone is reacting to it. The Chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra, Mr. Anand Mahindra praised the triumph of Pragg on his social media profile. He posted a video of Pragg after the match with a caption stating this historic victory.
Vaishali Domination
On the women’s side, the domination of Vaishali remained on top as she continued her stellar performance. She is at the top of the table with 10 points with Anna Muzychuk just behind her with 9 points.
Vaishali’s only loss came in the first round against Wenjun Ju in the first round. She played out a draw against Tingjie Lei on Sunday and secured her top position.
