Rahul Dravid: It looks like the Indian team will travel to Ireland without the services of Rahul Dravid and his team. Yes, you heard that right, Rahul Dravid might not coach India in the future.
But it is not as extensive as you are thinking. Many reports have come out stating that Rahul Dravid and his team will be given rest during the India tour of Ireland.
Rahul Dravid is in West Indies alongside the whole Indian team for the West Indies series. And he will remain there till the end of the series. India started amazingly after winning the first test by an inning and 141 runs.
NCA Replacement
According to the report by Cricbuzz, Rahul Dravid and his support staff will be given a well-deserved rest during the Ireland series. And the team of National Cricket Academy will temporarily replace them.
And everything is pointing toward VVS Laxman handling the interim Head Coach position for the series. Sitashu Kotak or Hrishikehs Knatikar will be the batting coach while the bowling department will be handled by either Troy Cooley or Sairaj Bahutule.
This is not the first time that VVS Laxman will be the coach of India. The former Indian batsman handled the team in Ireland series in 2022 and the T20 series in New Zealand in November last year.
Huge Chance For Laxman?
It is a huge chance for Laxman to showcase his coaching capabilities. As the contract of ‘The Great Wall Of India’ is set to expire after the World Cup 2023. So, if Laxman can impress the selectors, he will be considered for the job.
The decision is also smart as Rahul Dravid needs a rest and because of Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah has been rehabbing in NCA under the supervision of NCA chief VVS Laxman. So, he knows what the pacer is capable of right now and will know how to use him.
