Ranji Trophy 2022-23: At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, January 20, Delhi defeated Mumbai for the first time in the Ranji Trophy in 43 years. Delhi has had one of their worst seasons ever, thus their victory against the 41-time defending champions Mumbai should give them a lot of confidence as a top-tier team. Before the match against Mumbai, Delhi had played five matches, losing two, drawing three, and winning none. They were in seventh place in Group B, which has eight teams.

Delhi re-writes history in Ranji trophy 2022-23
Poor performance has led to the dismissal of certain selections, the removal of the captain, and the removal of another player for disciplinary reasons. Even Himmat Singh, the team’s captain who guided them to victory, was benched a few games ago. This is a significant setback for Mumbai, which formerly had players like Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ajinkya Rahane serving as captain.
The toss was won by Delhi, and they decided to bowl first. In the first innings, they bowled Mumbai out for just 293 runs. Mumbai’s batting effort was average, and the team may have been bowled out for a total under 200 if it weren’t for the in-form Safaraz’s 124 off 155 balls, which featured 16 fours and 4 sixes.
Delhi gets through an easy win
With Vaibhav Rawal scoring 114 and Himmat playing a knock of 85 runs, Delhi batted better in the first innings than Mumbai. In the first innings, the hosts scored 369 runs and gained a sizable lead as Mumbai could score 293 only in their first. In their second innings, Mumbai played even worse, scoring just 170 runs before being dismissed. As a result, Delhi earned their first victory of the year by successfully chasing down the target with 8 wickets remaining.
Rahane was a proud captain exactly two years ago when Team India won at the Gabba, making history. Under his guidance, Mumbai fell to a Delhi team for the first time in 43 years two years later.
