Prithvi Shaw shatters big records in Ranji Trophy 2022-23

The record for the highest score in India’s First-Class competition belongs to B.B. Nimbalkar. He was the first to score 400 runs in an innings for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in the 1948–1949 season.

Shaw spent 383 balls at the wicket, grabbing 49 fours and 4 sixes. Additionally, he had a third-wicket partnership of 401 runs with skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Shaw was only the eighth Mumbai hitter to get a triple hundred earlier in the inning. He outperformed Sanjay Manjrekar’s 377 career hits for Mumbai, set in the 1990–91 season.

Shaw has made history by scoring the first triple hundred, double hundred, and hundred in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Ranji Trophy, respectively.

On the list of the highest individual numbers in Ranji Trophy history, Shaw surpassed players like Sunil Gavaskar (340), VVS Laxman (353), and Cheteshwar Pujara (352). Shaw quickly reached the milestone on the second morning of the game, continuing on his overnight total of 240.
