Ranji Trophy 2022-23: On Friday, the penultimate day of the Ranji Trophy match against host Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Tamil Nadu’s openers put on an electrifying display of power hitting in a 144-chase against Hyderabad.
N Jagadeesan slams fiery fifty in Ranji Trophy 2022-23
The Hyderabad bowlers were thoroughly beaten by the opening pair of N. Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan in the fourth innings, who only dealt sixes. At a strike rate of 255, Jagadeesan smashed a 20-ball 50 with seven sixes while Sudharsan smashed a 20-ball 42 with five maximums. Before Sudharsan was caught attempting to go for a maximum, the pair accumulated 93 runs in just 38 balls.
Thanks to a maximum from Jagadeesan, Tamil Nadu easily passed the 100-mark in the seventh over. To the dismay of the Tamil Nadu camp, the umpires decided to suspend play for the day due to poor lighting. Tamil Nadu tried everything it could to shave seconds off the game, even putting players in the stands to catch the ball.
Match ended due to bad light
On 22 balls and 60 runs, Jagadeesan was still unbeaten and hit eight sixes. Due to its first-innings lead, Tamil Nadu earned three points despite the game ending in a tie. Tamil Nadu concluded its seven overs on 108/1.
All three of Hyderabad’s bowlers, Kartikeya Kak, Ravi Teja, and Bhuvangagiri Punnaiah, let up more than 13 runs per over.
