Rashid Khan: It looks like that the anger Rashid Khan had towards Cricket Australia has calmed down. Earlier, the Afghanistan spinner alongside with few of his national teammates decided to bow out of the Big Bash League.
The decision came after Cricket Australia announced in January that they would skip the ODI series against Afghanistan due to human rights. The decision by Australia’s cricketing board left the Afghan players furious.
Still, the cricketing board doubled down on their decision and stated that they would not play in Afghanistan but any players from the nation are welcome to play in their Big Bash League.
Furious Rashid Khan
After the announcement, the Leg break bowler stated in a statement that he was really disappointed by the decision. He was sad that Australia had pulled out of the series against the Sub-continent nation.
He further stated that if the Aussies are so uncomfortable playing against Afghanistan then he won’t make anyone uncomfortable with his presence in the BBL. The all-rounder ended his statement by stating that he will consider his future in the competition.
Fellow Afghan players Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmed, and Izharulhaq Naveed were also reported to opt out of the show. But it looks like that everyone will be back in the Australian T20 league.
Available For Selection
According to various sources in Australia, it looks like The No.1 T20 bowler has nominated himself to play in the league. He will be available for the first-round retention for Striker. It is also reported that he will play at least the first seven matches for them.
The Afghan international is currently playing against Pakistan and will also feature in Asia Cup 2023. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmed, and Izharulhaq Naveed are also nominated for the draft.
