Ravi Shastri: Ex-Coach for India’s cricket team, Ravi Shastri, looks angered with Rahul Dravid’s frequent breaks. He has questioned the idea to allow frequent breaks to Team India’s coaching staff in light of VVS Laxman taking over as acting head coach for their six-match series in New Zealand in place of Rahul Dravid. Laxman managed operations when India toured Zimbabwe and Ireland earlier this year, so this is not the first time the Dravid won’t be present.
Rahul Dravid skips the New Zealand series
Naturally, Dravid and company had to skip the Ireland tour because the senior team was in England getting ready for the ODI and T20I series. Nevertheless, Dravid was not present when India defeated Zimbabwe in August or during the home series against South Africa last month.

The fact that Dravid frequently takes pauses can have an impact on the relationship between the coach and player, according to Shastri, who was involved throughout his tenure as a coach regardless of which team played. In reality, Shastri revealed that one of the reasons he chose against accepting another term as India’s head coach was that the position needed him to travel constantly, which he just couldn’t do after seven years in the position.
Therefore, Shastri thinks that while managing the workload of the players has correctly taken priority, but, it is impossible to move forward by applying the same technique to the coaching setup.
Ravi Shastri’s statement
“I do not believe is breaks,” On the eve of the first Twenty20 International between India and New Zealand in Wellington, Shastri made the statement in a virtual press conference. “Because I want to understand my team, I want to understand my players and I want to then, be in control of that team. These breaks… what do you need that many breaks for to be honest? You get your 2-3 months of the IPL, that’s enough for you to rest as a coach. But other times, I think a coach should be hands on, whoever he is.”
Rahul Dravid to join team in Bangladesh series
As the team’s batting and bowling coaches, respectively, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Sairaj Bahutule will take over for Vikram Rathour and Paras Mhambrey. When India departs for Bangladesh for an ODI and Test series beginning on December 4, Rathour and Mhambrey will return to their coaching roles.
