RCB vs CSK IPL 2023: In high-pressure situations, players can often find themselves doing unpredictable things on the field, and even the most composed individuals can lose their cool. This was evident when MS Dhoni, who is known for his calm and collected attitude, also gave in to the pressure after Moeen Ali’s inattentiveness led to a missed opportunity for a run-out.
Ms Dhoni turns angry in match
Chennai Super Kings had a close call in their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, with the hosts appearing to be the favourites as long as Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell were at the crease. However, once they were dismissed, things became much tighter. The visitors had a golden opportunity to clinch the game’s fate on the last ball of the 18th over when RCB gifted them a simple run-out chance, but an incredible blunder by Mooen Ali meant the chance went to waste, much to the dismay of skipper MS Dhoni.
The incident occurred when Wayne Parnell faced Matheesha Pathirana and slashed a full delivery outside off to Ali, who was stationed inside the 30-yard-circle. With 31 runs still required off 13 deliveries, the Proteas ran desperately towards the other end despite calls of no from partner Suyash Prabudessai. The mix-up meant that both batters were at the non-striker’s end by the time the ball reached Ali, and a simple run-out opportunity was on offer for the Yellow Army.
Despite a simple run-out opportunity being in sight, Moeen Ali’s unawareness of the situation on the pitch cost CSK a crucial wicket. After fumbling the ball, Ali walked towards it leisurely, taking too long to realize the gravity of the situation and obey his skipper. By the time he threw the ball, Suyash Prabhudessai had safely made it to the other end, and the throw was also wayward, resulting in Dhoni having to collect the ball wide of the stumps and flick it at the poles. The entire sequence of events took too long for Suyash to be run out.
Dhoni was visibly furious with his team’s demeanor and continued to shake his head in disapproval even while switching ends at the end of the over. The incident generated a lot of attention on social media, with fans expressing a range of reactions.
