RCB vs DC IPL 2023: In the 20th match of IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore has defeated Delhi Capitals by a margin of 23 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The latter has now lost five matches, out of the five they have played this season. David Warner led DC won the toss and opted to field first in the match. Riding on Virat Kohli’s fifty, the home team scored 174/6 in 20 overs. In response, DC batters flattered in the chase and could muster 151/9 runs in 20 overs. This has now jolted their run rate further and their hopes of qualifying for the next stage as well.
DC batters fall felt in chase
Coming to chase a target of 175 runs, Delhi Capitals had the worst possible start in the game. RCB picked a wicket each in the first three overs, leaving the team reeling at the score of 2/3. Prithvi Shaw was runout by Anuj Rawat in the first over for a duck. Mitchell Marsh was also dismissed on duck in the next over. Skipper David Warner showed resistance and scored 19 runs off 13 balls.
Manish Pandey gave hope to the team with 50 off 38 balls, hitting five boundaries and a maximum. Axar Patel once again showed his batting skills scoring 21 runs off 14 balls. Aman Khan scored 18 off 10 balls while Anrich Nortje scored 23* in 14 balls at the end. However, since losing momentum initially, the team failed to pick up the moment later with regular fall of wickets. Hasaranga, Harshal, and Parnell grabbed a wicket each while Vijaykumar Vyshak grabbed a three-wicket haul and Siraj grabbed a couple of wickets as well.
Virat leads with yet another fifty
Earlier, David Warner led Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to field first in the clash. The first-inning score of 174/6 was at the par level of the ground. Skipper and opener Virat Kohli was the leading run-scorer with 50 runs in 34 balls, hitting six boundaries and a maximum. In the powerplay, they scored 47 runs while losing just a wicket.
The rest of the team made small yet significant contributions in the game. Skipper Du Plessis scored 22 runs off 16 balls, Lomror scored 26 off 18, Maxwell scored 24 off 14, Shahbaz scored 20 off 12, while impact player Anuj Rawat scored 15* off 22 balls. Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed a couple of wickets while Axar and Lalit Yadav also picked a wicket eac.
