RCB vs DC WPL 2023: Batting first in their opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Delhi Capitals scored mammoth 223 runs in 20 overs. With a record-breaking partnership from openers Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning who scored 84 and 72 respectively, the team posted this above-par total. However, in the second innings, RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana started the chase in style and smashed boundaries for fun.

Smriti Mandhana hits a powerful six

A video from the second over of the innings is going viral on the internet. On the third ball of the second over, Smriti smashed a massive six towards the long off. This was also the first six of the innings. To chase the mammoth total, it is necessary to keep hitting shots like this and RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana gave off a perfect start for the team. Just before she hit the six, the stadium echoed with her name as the crowd kept on chanting RCB and Mandhana.

As of writing this, RCB has scored 54 runs for the loss of one wicket in six overs. Opener Sophie Devine was dismissed with a score of 14 off 11 balls by Alice Capsey. Earlier, none of the RCB bowlers could post a significant impact as only Heather Knight was able to pick up two wickets.

With aggressive knocks from Shafali and Meg, DC sailed past the mark and scored a mammoth total. In the first match of the tournament, Mumbai Indians too batted first and won the match. It will be worthwhile to see if RCB can turnaround the match with their batting. Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first.
