RCB vs MI IPL 2023: In the 54th match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians have defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by a margin of six wickets as they chased down 200 with 21 balls to spare. The match took place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Du Plessis & Maxwell led the batting and amassed 199/6 in 20 overs on board. In response, Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant innings of 83 runs in 35 balls, ensured that MI chase down the target with ease. With the victory, MI now has 12 points and has edged themselves in the race of playoffs as they are now in the third spot of points table.

Suryakumar Yadav shines yet again

Coming to chase a total of 200 runs in 20 overs, MI were off to a good start as opener Ishan Kishan led the charge with a score of 42 runs in 21 balls. Poor form continued for skipper Rohit Sharma as he was dismissed for a score of 7 runs in 8 balls. Hasaranga struck twice in the fifth over to give the blows but the forthcoming batters did not let MI lose the game.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 83 off 35 balls, hitting seven boudnaries and six sixes while Nehal Wadhera scored 52* off 34, hitting four boundaries and three sixes. They stitched together a partnership of 139 runs in 66 balls. Hasaranga & Vyashak picked a couple of wickets each. It appeared as if the RCB bowlers were never into the chase as Surya and Nehal led an absolute batting onslaught in the middle overs.

Du Plessis and Maxwell led the charge

Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB were off to a poor start as Virat was dismissed in the first over with a score of 1 run in 4 balls. Anuj Rawat, who came at number 3, could not do much and was dismissed for a score of 6 off 4 balls. However, skipper Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell once again led the batting charge with the knocks of 65 & 68 runs, respectively. In the powerplay, RCB scored 56 runs while losing two wickets. Du Plessis & Maxwell continued their batting onslaught and led the charge with 120 runs partnership off 63 balls.

Dinesh Karthik played a small cameo of 30 runs in 18 balls whereas new addition Kedar Jadhav remained unbeaten with a score of 12 runs off 10 balls. Behrendorff picked a three-wicket haul while Green, Jordan, and Kartikeya picked a wicket each.
