RCB vs PBKS IPL 2023: In the 27th match of IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore has defeated Punjab Kings by a margin of 24 runs at the latter’s home ground in Mohali. Sam Curran, the stand-in captain of PBKS, won the toss and opted to field first. Riding on the knocks of Virat & Faf, the team managed to post 174/4 in 20 overs. In response, PBKS had a tumbling inning throughout and were eventually bowled out for 150 runs in 18.2 overs.

Virat Kohli took on the captaincy role today as Faf is suffering from injury and could come out only for bat. Thus, Virat was chosen as skipper and Faf came out as a substitute, allowing effective use of the new rule.

PBKS’ trembling inning

Coming to chase a target of 175, PBKS did not have a great start in the match, losing 3 wickets at 27 runs itself. Atharva Taide was dismissed for 4 runs in just the second ball of the innings by Siraj. Matthew Short scored 8 off 7 balls, while Liam Livingstone scored 2 off 4 balls. Prabhsimran Singh showed resistance and scored 46 off 30 balls, hitting 3 boundaries and four maximums.

Harpreet scored 13 runs, while skipper Sam Curran scored 10 runs off 12 balls. Jitesh Sharma had a blistering knock in the end, scoring 41 from 27 balls, hitting two boundaries and three sixes, however, he failed to take his team across the boundary line. Siraj bowled his career best of 4 wickets while shelling just 21 runs. Hasaranga grabbed a couple of wickets while Wayne Parnell & Harshal picked a wicket each.

Virat & Faf show at Mohali

Earlier, RCB batted first as Sam Curran won the toss and opted to field first. RCB had a typical batting day on the field today. Skipper and opener Kohli scored 59 runs in 47 balls, hitting five boundaries and a maximum. Injured player Faf Du Plessis, who came in as a substitute, scored magnificent 84 runs in 56 balls, hitting five boundaries and as many sixes.

They had managed to score 137 runs in 16 overs and were eyeing a big target from thereon but regular fall of wickets didn’t let that happen. Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck by Harpreet Brar. Virat & Maxi were dismissed on two consecutive balls. Dinesh Karthik scored 7 in 5 balls while Lomror scored 7* in 9 balls. Harpreet Brar picked a couple of wickets while Arshdeep and Nathan Ellis took a wicket each.
