RCB vs RR IPL 2023: Despite losing the toss at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals successfully limited the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a total of 171 runs. However, their pursuit did not begin on a positive note as both of their openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, were dismissed without scoring a run in just two balls by the second over.
Rajasthan Royals on backfoot in powerplay
Rajasthan Royals’ pursuit of the 172-run target set by the Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a disappointing start as they faced early setbacks in the powerplay. The first blow came in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal. It was Mohammad Siraj who struck in the second ball of the opening over. Siraj bowled a full-length delivery outside the off stump, and Jaiswal attempted a powerful shot towards mid-off. However, the connection between the bat and ball was not ideal, resulting in a straightforward catch for Virat Kohli. The early wicket put Rajasthan Royals on the backfoot, courtesy of the disciplined bowling by the Bangalore team.
Wayne Parnell dealt a double blow to Rajasthan Royals by dismissing Jos Buttler for a duck and also removing the RR skipper in the same over, putting the team in a difficult position. Rajasthan continued to struggle as they lost their first four wickets within the first five overs, with Michael Bracewell dismissing Devdutt Padikkal to add to RR’s woes. Royal Challengers Bangalore executed their chase effectively, and if they can secure a victory by a margin of more than 109 runs, they will also surpass Rajasthan’s net run rate.
