RCB vs UPW WPL 2023: The battle for RCB’s maiden win in the tournament appears to go on for a while. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Royal Challengers Bangalore could post just 138 runs on scoreboard. They went from 72/1 in 8 overs to being 138 all out, flattering once again in batting. This collapse started from the battle of Sophies.
Sophie dismisses Sophie
After completing 8 overs, RCB Women had scored 72-1, with Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine leading the charge with 32 and 36 runs respectively in 19 and 23 balls. As Sophie Ecclestone took over the bowling for the 9th over, she made a strategic move by going around the wicket and successfully cramped Sophie Devine for room. In an unfortunate turn of events, Sophie Devine’s stumps were thrashed, resulting in a significant wicket for the UP Warriorz team.
At the time of the wicket, RCB Women’s score was 73-2, and Sophie Devine’s dismissal had a big impact as she had been looking quite threatening. After this no other batter could do much as RCB lost their last nine wickets in just 65 runs. Skipper Smriti Mandhana also failed to make an impact. It’s worth noting that RCB is currently win-less in the tournament.
