Renuka Singh: The Indian bowler Renuka Singh has been awarded the ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2022 in honour of her remarkable seam and swing bowling. India is currently ranked first in women’s cricket thanks in large part to her outstanding performances.
Renuka Singh’s record-smashing year
Renuka emerged victorious, overcoming competition from Australia’s Darcie Brown, England’s Alice Capsey, and her fellow Indian Yastika Bhatia to secure the title. The young player, only 26 years of age, achieved outstanding performance with 18 ODI wickets at a 14.88 average and an economy of 4.62, as well as 22 T20I wickets at a 23.95 average and an economy of 6.50 in just 29 white-ball matches.
Renuka made her mark in the cricket world with a whirlwind debut year for India, especially in the T20I series against Australia where she became a formidable opponent for the Australian team. Her exceptional performances in the Commonwealth Games and the Asia Cup further established her as the ideal successor to the accomplished Jhulan Goswami.
Taking four wickets against Australia during the Commonwealth Games the previous year, Renuka shocked the cricket world. Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Tahlia McGrath were among the famous Australian top players she eliminated.
Which other player won the award?
Australia’s Tahlia McGrath was named the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022, thanks to her outstanding performances in 16 matches.
