Rishabh Pant: Yesterday, BCCI announced that Rishabh Pant was recovering at a rapid pace in rehab. This piece of good news was a joyous moment for all the Indian cricket team fans. The left-handed batsman made it more clear by uploading a video of him working out in the NCA.
Now, BCCI has handed the fans another good news by stating the timestamp for the return of the wicketkeeper. The wicketkeeper has been out of the Indian squad since mid-2022 when he suffered a horrific car accident.
Indian team has been missing him a lot as he is the only Indian batsman that is still in the top 10 ICC ranking. That is a marvelous feat considering he has not played for more than a year.
Targetting England Series
Yesterday, BCCI medical team updated that Pant is recovering well and has made significant progress in his rehabilitation. He has also started batting and keeping in the nets and is following a fitness programmer designed for him specifically.
The fitness program will help him regain his strength, flexibility, and running. In the video, Pant could be seen lifting weights in exercises such as deadlift and chest press with the help of a trainer.
Now, BCCI has also given a timestamp on his return. According to BCCI the 5 match home series against England in January-February 2024 is a realistic timestamp for his return.
World Cup 2023 Return Possible?
The positive rehab also allows us to think if Pant can return sooner than expected. And the first instance that comes to mind is the World Cup 2023. The possibility of the wicketkeeper returning for World Cup 2023 is completely non-existent.
If anything comes up, BCCI will inform us but as of now, the realistic date for his return is undoubtedly January of 2024.
