Rishabh Pant: The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was involved in a car accident early on Friday morning on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. A statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been released which provides an elaborate information on his injury.

In an official statement, BCCI said “Rishabh Pant met with a car accident early on Friday morning near Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He was admitted to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre where he was treated for impact injuries.”
After returning from a vacation in the UAE, the attacking left-handed batter was travelling to meet his family when the collision occurred. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time. He was initially transported to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee for emergency care before being transferred to Max Hospital in Dehradun, where he is currently being treated by doctors.
BCCI issues new medical statement on Rishabh Pant
According to BCCI, Pant has bruises on his right wrist, ankle, toe, and back in addition to a ligament damage on his right knee and injuries to his forehead.
The statement added, “Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.”
When Pant’s car caught fire minutes after colliding with a road divider, he tried to exit it, which resulted in the bulk of his back and leg injuries. The left-hander and his family were also guaranteed by the BCCI “the greatest [medical] care and assistance” during this trying time.
“The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family while the Medical Team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating Rishabh. The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase.”
Due to a niggle in his knee, Pant was not selected for India’s T20I and ODI teams for the Sri Lanka series. Before joining the Test squad for the four-match home series against Australia, he was required to report to the NCA in Bengaluru for a 15-day rehabilitation period.
