Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is happy with his comparison with former captain and legendary wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But he said on Thursday that after playing an important role in the Test series in Australia, he wants to make his own identity in the game.
It is noteworthy that Pant has often been compared to two-time world champion captain Dhoni. Dhoni retired from international cricket last year.
“It feels amazing when you compare me with MS Dhoni,” Pant, 23, told reporters outside Delhi airport. “But I want to make my own name in Indian cricket. It’s not good to compare a legend with some youngster.”
Pant, who scored 97 in a draw test match in Sydney and an unbeaten 89 in the second innings in Gabba.
India made a spectacular comeback in the second innings of the first Test match in Adelaide after their lowest score was bowled out for 36. They won the four-match series 2-1.
