Rohit Sharma recalled the heartbreaking feeling after India’s loss in ODI World Cup final last year. India was in the best form of the past decade before they faced Australia in Ahmedabad for the biggest prize in ODI cricket.
But to everyone’s shock, it was a one-sided loss for the Men In Blues as heartbreak struck and the 1,32,000 fans in the ground were silent. It was something that no one expected and no one knew how to react to this loss.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has avoided speaking about that dreadful night so far. But he finally opened up about the loss in a promotional video. Where he described the night as a bad dream.
A Bad Dream
The Indian skipper stated “I ran. I was in no mood to stand there in the middle. Honestly, I just wanted this so badly. When you want something that desperately and you don’t get it, you get frustrated, you get angry and you get all this negative things. At that time, you won’t even understand what’s happening in your life.”
He further stated “When I woke up the next day after the World Cup Final, I had no idea what happened last night. I was discussing it with my wife and told ‘Whatever happened last night was a bad dream, right? I think the final is tomorrow. It took me two to three days to realize that we lost the final and that we will get another chance only four years later.”
Rohit Sharma Dream Start
But as a sportsperson, you have to keep moving no matter what the circumstances are. He has to shift his focus to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and he has done it wonderfully.
The Indian skipper started his T20 WC campaign with a sensible half-century on a tough pitch. We hope this time India gets the glory.
