Rohit Sharma: In the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval, England defeated India by 10 wickets. England easily scored 169 runs thanks to fifty-plus scores from Alex Hales and Jos Buttler, who also ensured that India had little chance of winning the match. After the game, the Indian team was upset, as was to be expected, and Rohit Sharma, the captain, appeared utterly sad.
Rahul Dravid consoles Rohit Sharma
Even Indian head coach Rahul Dravid had to console the captain of his country when he absolutely broke down. Before Dravid spoke to Rohit, he noticed that he was sitting by himself and that he was often looking down. After a difficult loss to England, Rishabh Pant shared his sadness with him.
Rohit expresses his disappointment from the team
After the game, Rohit Sharma expressed that he was unhappy with the team’s performance. He said that managing stress in knockout games is the key, and he also mentioned that the players in the Indian Premier League have a lot of experience playing in those conditions (IPL).
“Pretty disappointed how it turned out today. We batted well at the back end to get that score. We were not upto the mark with the ball, we couldn’t turn up today. It’s all about handling the pressure in knockout games. All these guys have played enough to understand that. These guys have played under pressure in IPL games, it’s all about keeping calm.
“We were nervy to start with, but you got to give credit to their openers, they played really well. I thought it swung a bit in the first over, but not from the right areas. We know the runs are scored square of the wicket, we were aware about it. When we won the first game, it showed a lot of character. The game against Bangladesh, it was a tricky one. I thought we held our nerve and kept executing our plans. Couldn’t do that today.”
