ICC Test Rankings: The ICC Test rankings have been shuffled completely after the first Ashes 2023 test. Joe Root finally destroyed the Australian dominance to claim the number 1 test ranking in the first test following his century.
Root has been in phenomenal form since 2021. He has scored 13 centuries in less than 3 years, five of which have come this year only. This year, Root scored 539 runs in fourth-test matches with an unbelievable average of 107.80.
Aussies Domination Stopped In ICC Test Ranking
Root jumped five places to remove Marnus Labushagne from the top spot. Labushagne has failed to impact the games for a while now and, as a result, dropped to third place. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson jumped to the second position.
Travis Head dropped to fourth, and Steve Smith dropped to sixth position. Babar Azam retained his fifth position. Even after being out for almost half a year now. Rishabh Pant maintained his 10th position and is the highest-ranking Indian batsman. He is followed by Rohit Sharma at 12th, Virat Kohli in 14th, and Pujara in 25th.

Ashwin at Peak
Even after missing World Test Championship final, Ashwin remains at the top of the leaderboard. Once again, making everyone wonder why did India drop him out of the final. James Anderson still holds second place, Kagiso Rabada jumped to third, and Cummins went down to fourth.
Ollie Robinson is ranked fifth in bowlers, with Lyon just 3 points behind him. Bumrah and Jadeja are in the top ten in the 8th and 9th positions, respectively.
