SA VS BAN ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Quinton De Cock stated that he will retire from ODIs and Test Cricket after this World Cup. And if that happens then this might be the perfect way to say goodbye.

On Tuesday, De Cock scored his third century of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He also claimed the top spot in the most run-scored list in this World Cup dethroning Virat Kohli. The Proteas opener now has 407 runs in the competition.

But this was not the only record her broke during his brilliant inning. De Cock scored 174 runs in just 140 deliveries including 15 boundaries and 7 sixes. He was unstoppable and was scoring runs for fun.

Record Breaker De Cock

The left-handed opening batsman was on fire against Bangladesh and was shattering records like nothing. He broke the record for the highest score by a wicket-keeper batsman in World Cup history.

De Cock left Adam Gilchrist behind who scored 149 in the finals of the 2007 ODI World Cup. He also left MS Dhoni behind to hit the most sixes in ODIs as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Ironically, he is only behind MS Dhoni’s 183 as the highest individual score of a wicketkeeper-batsman.

He is now ranked 4th among the South African batsmen with the most ODI centuries. This was his 20th century while Hashim Amla is leading the chart with 27. If he does not retire now, he can break that record easily.

Immense Love During SA VS BAN ICC ODI World Cup 2023

The Mumbai crowd showered immense love on De Cock during the match. There were even posters begging the Proteas to not retire after the World Cup. If he does retire, it will be a huge loss for cricket.
