SA vs ENG: During the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series in Bloemfontein on Sunday (January 29), normally composed cricketer Sam Curran showed an unexpected display of emotion when he gave South African captain Temba Bavuma an energetic send-off. Curran was seen shouting at Bavuma after dismissing him with a brilliant century for the Proteas. Bavuma attempted to hit a lofted shot, but was undone by Curran’s cutter, resulting in a hit to his stumps.

Following the dismissal, Sam Curran rushed towards a dejected Temba Bavuma, loudly shouting and yelling in his face, violating the ICC code of conduct. The outburst was unwarranted, as Bavuma had already been dismissed, and there was no need to further agitate him. However, Curran not only approached the batter, but also taunted him provocatively.
During the second ODI of the three-match series between England and South Africa, Sam Curran’s celebration after dismissing Temba Bavuma created a stir. Bavuma, the South African captain, had just completed a brilliant century, setting the foundation for their huge chase of 348 runs. However, Curran’s celebratory behavior was seen as a breach of the ICC code of conduct.
As Bavuma attempted to play a lofted shot through the deep third region, he was done in by Curran’s cutter and managed to only hit the ball at his stumps. The dismissal gave England the much-needed breakthrough, especially as it involved the ominous-looking Bavuma.

But Curran decided to give the opposition player an animated send-off right into the face of Bavuma, almost provoking the batter to react. Although the South African captain didn’t respond to Curran’s angry jeering and simply walked off the ground, his composure and sportsmanship stood out in the face of unsportsmanlike behavior.
In the end, the South African captain’s brilliant century and Curran’s breach of the ICC code of conduct will both be remembered from this match.
