SAFF Championship 2023: The journey of the Indian football team to the final of the SAFF Championship 2023 has been nothing short of motivating. And finally, the day has come when India will acquire the championship and will take their first step toward FIFA World Cup qualification.
Indian football team coach, Igor Štimac, has already stated that SAFF Championship will not be the end, but just the beginning. The ultimate goal of this team is World Cup qualification. But that does not mean that the players won’t give it their all.
India has won 8 out of the 13 SAFF Championships. But this time, special invitees like Lebanon and Kuwait made this spectacle even bigger. India has already defeated Lebanon in the semifinals and now they are eyeing Kuwait’s demolition to lift the cup.
All Eyes On Final
India is the defending champions while Kuwait is playing their first tournament. India won the Intercontinental Cup last month and will look to add second silverware to their collection. Meanwhile, Kuwait would like to win the cup in their debut participation.
Sandesh Jinghan will be back for India and will bolster the defense. The defender missed the semifinal against Lebanon due to suspension. With Sunil Chettri as the center of attention, India has annihilated every team in their path so far, conceding no goals so far.
FanCode and JioTV will live stream the match with DD Bharati TV channel broadcasting the final. The SAFF Championship 2023 final will start at 7:30 PM at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Asian Championship 2024
India is not only looking to qualify for World Cup but is also targeting the AFC Asian Championship 2024. So, the experience of playing against the invited nations like Kuwait and Lebanon will prove really useful.
India will like to add the Asian Championship to their collection as well and would like to bolster their ranking even more. India recently reclaimed the top 100 FIFA Rankings after 5 years.
