Shah Rukh Khan: Finally, after a wait of 10 years, KKR has won their third IPL trophy. It was a very long wait for the franchise and for its owner, who has been with this club since the start.
He is one of the most passionate owners in the tournament and supports his team by whatever means necessary. That is why the last decade, where KKR did not win anything was tough for him.
Kolkata has had a tough few seasons in the past and was the center of mocking on the Internet. Right before the IPL 2024 final, Shah Rukh Khan opened up about his darkest phase as KKR owner and how Gautam Gambhir helped him.
Darkest Phase
Reflecting on the past few years, SRK admitted that his team’s performance was not good. And amidst that, a feeling of despair started to creep in from everywhere. He was hurt by the comments of people online and offline.
He stated “Having the nicest set of team in the world and we kept on losing only again and again. I still remember, which was the saddest moment, kisi ne mujhe aise bola ‘inka costume hi achha hai, inka gameplay to achha hai hi nahi‘ (someday said to me ‘only their playing kit is nice, not their game’). I remember some experts talking about this. It used to hurt.”
Shah Rukh Khan And Gautam Gambhir Bromance
SRK thanked Gautam Gambhir as he came back to KKR and to reach finals with him again has been outstanding. He further stated that this campaign has taught him how to lose but never be losers.
The Bollywood star was emotional as his team won its third IPL trophy and even broke down a little. He embraced Gautam Gambhir warmly after the win and even gave him a kiss on the forehead. It was one of the most wholesome moments of the whole tournament.
