Stuart Broad concluded his illustrious professional career in a remarkable fashion, playing a pivotal role in England’s triumph in the fifth Ashes Test at the Oval by securing the final two Australian wickets. The 37-year-old bids farewell with an impressive tally of 604 wickets in 167 Tests, making him the second English bowler to surpass 600 Test wickets.
During a media interaction while representing the Welsh Fire in The Hundred, Shaheen Shah Afridi expressed his admiration for Stuart Broad’s accomplishments, mentioning that what Broad has achieved is beyond any aspiring cricketer’s wildest dreams. The young cricketer also pointed out that Pakistan’s team has drawn inspiration from England’s aggressive approach in Test cricket.
What did Shaheen Afridi say?
Afridi said, “I saw Broady the other day and for me, Test cricket is the best. What a legend he is. I can only dream of taking 600 plus Test wickets. Test cricket helps me so much with my fitness and makes bowling in the shorter formats so much easier. Watching the Ashes was great fun and you can see with how Pakistan played in Sri Lanka, that we are trying to be more attacking.”
Shaheen Afridi presently has 105 wickets in the 27 Test Matches he has played. Since he has become an integral part of a team in a short span, his career as a pacer looks very promising. As of now, Shaheen Afridi is playing in ‘The Hundred’ and will return to national side for Asia Cup.
