Afghanistan’s young cricketer Hashmatullah Shahidi has made history. Hashmatullah Shahidi has become the first player from Afghanistan to score a double century in Test cricket. Shahidi achieved this feat on the second day of the Test match being played against Zimbabwe.
Playing his fifth Test match, Shahidi played an unbeaten 200 off 443 balls with the help of 21 fours and a six. He remained at the crease for 590 minutes. Soon after Shahidi completed his double century, Afghanistan declared their first innings by scoring 545 runs for four wickets. This is Afghanistan’s highest ever score in Test cricket.
Afghanistan’s last highest was 342 against Bangladesh in Chittagong in September 2019. In the team with many big names missing which includes Rashid Khan, Mohammed Nabi, Ahmed Shazad, Afghanistan team has shown enough potential and took the overall target over 500 for the first time.
