ICC ODI World Cup 2023: A huge drama is unfolding in Bangladesh right before the commencement of the World Cup. While the squad has been announced, it looks like the skipper Shakib Al Hasan is not impressed by it.
The main reason is that of Tamim Iqbal. Tamim announced his retirement from cricket before the Asia Cup 2023 started. But he took that back after Bangladesh’s president demanded it but was later injured.
Tamin was included in the World Cup squad but now has informed the board that he is not completely fit. He further has informed the board that he can’t play more than 5 matches but the board is still adamant about sending him to India. That is when Shakib started getting angry and a meeting took place in BCB’s president’s house on Monday night.
No Shakib In ICC ODI World Cup 2023?
According to the report by Somony TV, Tamim Iqbal informed BCB that if they take him to the World Cup, they have to consider the fact that he is not fully fit and Tamim also informed that he won’t be able to play more than 5 matches in this World Cup.
After hearing this, ODI captain Shakib Al Hasan said he couldn’t accept that and even said he himself would not play in the World Cup if Tamim went to the World Cup and played only 5 games. He wants other players to play instead according to reports.
Both of the players were invited to the President’s house to solve the issue. But new reports have emerged and it looks like the issue is far from resolved.
Increased Tension
According to the report, A huge fight happened yesterday at the BCB President’s house. Tamim Iqbal said he will play only 5 games of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as he is not fully fit. Captain Shakib says that either he plays the full WC, or we get some other player.
If nothing happens, Shakib will not play in the World Cup. Interesting to note Tamim was sacked from captaincy recently, with BCB handing it to Shakib.
