IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2024: At the Nassau County Stadium in New York on Monday, Pakistan lost to India. Babar Azam‘s team suffered sadness at the end of the high-profile Twenty20 World Cup match, as they were six runs short of the objective of 120 runs. Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar was upset that his country lost to India in a game that should have been won during the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Pakistan’s Disappointing Batting Display
India was dismissed for 119 runs in just 19 overs. The bowlers from Pakistan were performing at the top of their game, keeping their fiercest opponents at bay. Unfortunately, Pakistan once again produced a forgettable second half of the game. The hitters failed to fulfill their quota of 20 overs, scoring 113 runs, this time.
Following the defeat to India in New York, former Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar, a well-known critic of Pakistani cricket, addressed the crowd. Following the close defeat in the group stage match, Akhtar expressed his deep emotions through humorous banter in the caption of his tweet.
Shoaib Akhtar Expresses Disappointment and Frustration
I think I should have a template text “Disappointed & hurt” automatically set to be posted, he captioned a video post on X. Babar Azam and company let up a meek 120-run target at Nassau County Stadium, which infuriated Shoaib Akhtar. Instead of playing for Pakistan, Akhtar questioned the players about playing for their own personal goals.
Babar Azam said, “I know you are disappointed, the whole nation is down. The MORALE is down. In the beginning of the game, I said that the personal goal does not matter. You need to play for each other, play for the country, Shoaib Akhtar slammed the players for playing for personal milestones.” Additionally, he questioned the players’ lack of motivation during the run-chase. The 48-year-old felt unfairly treated because Pakistan might not make it out of the T20 World Cup 2024 following their second straight defeat in four days.
Akhtar’s Call for Intent and Team Spirit
“You need to show intent to win the match. Personal milestones like 1000 runs, 4000 or 10000 career runs, do not matter. Do Pakistan deserve to be out before the Super 8? God knows!,” a dejected Shoaib Akhtar expressed on X. At the Nassau County Stadium in New York, Babar Azam & Co. will take on Canada following two straight losses to the United States and India. Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the Super-8 are quite slim because they cannot afford to lose any more games. The debutants will play them on Tuesday, June 12, 2024. The events will begin at 8:00 PM Indian Standard Time.
