Shreyas Iyer: Team India’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) these days. Shreyas has been ruled out of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia starting on February 9 in Nagpur. Iyer, who returned to Bengaluru to seek fitness clearance from the NCA, was told that he needed to spend more time in rehab to recover from a back injury. Iyer was recently ruled out of the ODIs against New Zealand due to injury.
Dance fiercely on the song ‘Come Down’
However, now Iyer has given an auspicious sign. He has been seen dancing steps with Shikhar Dhawan in NCA. A video of Shreyas and Shikhar is becoming increasingly viral, in which both the players are seen dancing fiercely on the song ‘Come Down’. Shreyas is looking fit during this. If Shreyas returns fit, he will strengthen the middle order of Team India. Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin also supported this.
BCCI medical staff had decided to send him to rehab
After playing the two-Test series in Bangladesh in December, Iyer had developed inflammation in his lower back, for which he was given an injection at the NCA. He was expected to join the Indian team for the preparatory camp for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but that did not happen. The BCCI medical staff had decided to send him to rehab as a precautionary measure. He is now expected to join the Indian team for the second Test starting February 17 in Delhi.
