SL vs IRE: In the second Test match between Sri Lanka and Ireland, held on April 25th at the Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka, an extraordinary one-handed catch by Sri Lankan all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva brought an end to Curtis Campher’s impressive innings. Andrew Balbirnie, the captain of Ireland, won the toss on the first day of the Test and elected to bat. In their initial innings, Ireland managed to score 319 runs, losing four wickets in a span of 90 overs.

On the second day, Ireland continued to showcase an impressive performance despite the early dismissal of Lorcan Tucker by Vishwa Fernando in the opening over. Curtis Campher took the crease next and proceeded to achieve his first Test century, facing 209 deliveries and contributing significantly to Ireland’s total score of 492. Campher displayed his batting prowess by scoring 111 runs off 229 deliveries before falling victim to Prabath Jayasuriya’s delivery.
The dismissal came as de Silva seized the opportunity to take a remarkable one-handed catch, stretching towards his right side to grab the ball that seemed to evade the fielder initially. The video of the catch is now going immensely viral on social media.

Thanks to de Silva’s remarkable catch, the Sri Lankan team successfully limited Ireland’s score to below 500. In their turn to bat, Sri Lanka’s captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Nishan Madushka both achieved individual centuries. By the end of day 3, Sri Lanka amassed a total of 357 runs with the loss of only one wicket in a span of 77 overs.
