SL vs PAK Asia Cup Final 2022: Sri Lanka were considered a weak team in the Asia Cup after losing their first match to Afghanistan. But after the final match, only Sri Lanka’s name is on everyone’s tongue. Sri Lanka team has won the Asia Cup(SL vs PAK Asia Cup Final 2022) for the fifth time.
Despite Pakistan’s sharp bowling, Sri Lanka scored a mammoth score of 170 runs thanks to Bhanaka Rajapaksha’s half-century. Haris Rauf was the most successful bowler for Pakistan. He initially prevented the batsmen from forming partnerships and kept the pressure on the Sri Lankan team’s batting. However, Bhanaka Rajapaksha played the game well by taking his wicket. Naseem Shah also bowled well in the beginning but he could not show his magic in the death overs and proved to be very expensive.
Pakistan’s beginning was in vain
Pakistan got a bonus on the no ball at the start of the innings. But after that like Sri Lanka, Pakistan too could not start well. Captain Babar Azam (5) and Fakhar Zaman (0) lost their wickets in the fourth over. Babar Azam has failed to make a mark in the Asia Cup. At the same time, Fakhar Zaman could not even open the account in this match and got bowled on the very first ball.
After the wicket fell early, Pakistan’s batsmen Muhammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed kept the wickets. Both the batsmen formed partnerships for the team. Pakistan’s score was 68/2 in 10 overs. Paxitan’s run rate was 6.63 at that time while the required run rate was 11. Although the Pakistan batsmen had saved the wicket but the pace of the runs was very slow.
Iftikhar Ahmed tried to increase the pace of the runs but in the fourteenth over of the match, he lost his wicket to Pramod Madhushan. Pakistan touched the 100 mark in the fifteenth over. But it was finding it difficult for the batsmen to open their hands in front of the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Muhammad Rizwan hit a half-century, Hasaranga turned the match
Mohammad Rizwan saved his wicket and scored a safe half-century in 49 balls. He was saving his wicket from the beginning and without giving any chance to the Sri Lankan bowlers, he completed his half-century. But Wanindu Hassaranga stopped him after his half century. Hassaranga showed his magic in the last over of his spell. Hasaranga snatched the match from the hands of Pakistan by taking three wickets in a single over.
At one point the entire match seemed to be going in Pakistan’s favor but Sri Lankan team maintained the winning momentum of the Super 4 match and won a resounding victory in the final. Madhushan and Hasaranga were the most successful bowlers from Sri Lanka. In reply to Sri Lanka’s score of 170, Pakistan could only make 147 runs in 20 overs.
