LPL 2023: During a recent LPL match at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium, an unforeseen guest made an entrance onto the field. While the B Love Kandy team was competing against the Jaffna Strikers, a snake was sighted close to the boundary line.
Isuru Udana’s lucky escape in LPL 2023
The occurrence left Isuru Udana, who was positioned on the field, startled. While repositioning himself, Udana reacted with a sudden jump of surprise upon spotting the snake moving across the ground. The Lanka Premier League has been a center of fierce competition, highlighting both local talents and international figures like Babar Azam. Yet, amid the excitement of the sport, the league has also encountered some rather unusual instances.
A comparable incident with a snake had taken place in a prior game, which was captured by the camera. Now, another snake intrusion has happened during an LPL match. Isuru Udana, while fulfilling his fielding responsibilities, had an unforeseen encounter while moving backward. The presence of the snake moving on the ground triggered an instinctive jump from Udana. The snake proceeded its journey near the boundary line, even managing to surprise one of the on-field cameramen.

A comparable situation had occurred merely a week earlier during a match between Galle Titans and Dambulla Aura in Colomba. The game was briefly paused when a snake was noticed on the field. This occurrence led to amusing remarks from former cricketers Dinesh Karthik and Scott Styris. Dinesh Karthik humorously tweeted, playfully poking fun at the Bangladesh Cricket Team, “The nagin is back. I thought it was in Bangladesh.”
