Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly: In their prime, Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India, and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar shared a number of enduring batting partnerships and contributed significantly to many of the team’s historic on-field triumphs.

While speaking at the ‘NATCON 2022′ annual conference of the realtors’ apex body CREDAI, Ganguly recalled a fascinating Tendulkar-related incident. In spite of getting hit in the ribs by a Shoaib Akhtar delivery, he revealed that Sachin was scoring runs in one of the games as if nothing had happened.

Sachin made me a better player: Sourav

The former BCCI president Ganguly also noted that Tendulkar had a double rib fracture the next morning despite not displaying any signs of pain or discomfort while batting.

While speaking at the event, Ganguly remarked “Sachin was the most sane one and Sehwag was insane. So its Sachin. He actually also made me a better player. Sachin actually got me lift my game.”

“Sachin. He was special and I have seen him up close. I have seen him hit in the rib cage. Did not make a noise. Got runs. The next morning he had a double fracture in ribs,” he added. Continuing further, he said “I heard a sound and I went and asked him you are okay? He said he was fine. The next morning he had fractures. He was special.”

When Sourav Ganguly was denied of second term

A vote of no confidence was passed against Sourav Ganguly for failing to perform up to expectations while serving as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and he was subsequently denied a second term. During the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on October 18, Roger Binny, a 1983 World Cup champion bowler, took over as board president in place of Ganguly.

The future of Ganguly’s broadcasting career and if he would return to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in some capacity are currently unknown. The 50-year-old has held the CAB presidency before taking the helm at the BCCI.
