In an interview with Star Sports, Steve Smith looked back at the moment when he was jeered by the Oval crowd. The instance happened in the 2019 ODI World Cup where Kohli urged the crowd to stop booing the Aussie and rather appreciate him.
Virat in the post-match interview stated that he was sorry on behalf of the crowd and did not want Indian fans to create a bad example. “To be honest, he didn’t do anything to be booed in my opinion. He is just playing cricket.”
“It was a very nice moment from Kohli in the ICC 2019 World Cup, the crowd was booing me and he told the crowd to just support him, What is wrong with him? That was great from Virat, really appreciate it,” Smith stated.

Later, Smith praised Kohli and stated “Virat Kohli is an Incredible player. He always steps up & delivers in big games. He has done it again & again for India in big games – there are not many bigger players than Kohli”.
