Suryakumar Yadav: In the final Super 12 match on Sunday (November 6) at the iconic MCG, star India batsman delivered yet another outstanding performance against Zimbabwe. He scored 61 runs in just 25 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes, for the total. Moreover, the knock came with a strike rate of 244. In the process, Surya completed 1000 T20I runs in a year.
He did so first among Indians. He is also the second player in the world to do so as Pakistan’s Mohammed Rizwan scored 1326 runs last year.
Following the dismissals of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, India’s top hitter at No. 4 made sure that the team’s run-scoring momentum was maintained in the match.
Not to forget, Netherlands’ unexpected victory over South Africa earlier in the day made India automatically enter the semifinals. Then, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh to go as the second team from Group 2 to the World Cup semifinals. Suryakumar played as though this match was vital and put together a brilliant innings despite the fact that India had already advanced to the semifinals.
India scored 21 runs, including 2 sixes, in the final over of their inning. He hit a four, two sixes, and all three were played with a scoop over the fine leg area. India was 165/4 as the 20th over began, but Hardik Pandya was soon dismissed. Prior to Suryakumar Yadav taking control and elegantly finishing it off, the first three deliveries did not bring in many runs.
