The win levelled the three-match T20I series 1-1. During their pursuit of the target, India’s progress was slow, but Suryakumar’s determined performance helped them secure the win. The day following the match, Suryakumar visited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his Lucknow residence to pay his greetings.

Suryakumar Yadav meets Yogi Adityanath
India’s chase for 100 runs got off to a rough start with opener Shubman Gill’s early departure for 11 runs. Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tripathi stepped up, hitting boundaries consistently, but their partnership was cut short with Ishan’s dismissal for 19 runs. In the 11th over, Rahul was spectacularly bowled out by Ish Sodhi for 13 runs.

Hardik Pandya stepped up to bat next. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya fueled India’s innings with a steady stream of runs through singles. In the final over, India required 6 runs for victory. New Zealand’s Blair Tickner was tasked with the last over, delivering some strong deliveries, but Suryakumar Yadav was unfazed, slamming a FOUR on the fifth ball to secure a tense 6-wicket win for India.
