Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Ambati Rayudu and Sheldon Jackson both made headlines for the wrong reasons during the current Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Saurashtra and Baroda. Jackson and Rayudu were seen arguing during the two teams’ Elite Group D match on Wednesday.
When Jackson was at the crease during the ninth over of the game, Baroda captain Rayudu, who was fielding at cover, seemed to have made a remark about the former. The argument started because Rayudu didn’t like Sheldon’s behaviour since he took too long to face the deliveries, according to the commentators. Watch Video:
Following a heated argument in which umpires and other players intervened, the two eventually reconciled. While being separated from the Saurashtra batsman, the Baroda captain was seen explaining the situation and expressing his unhappiness to the umpire.
How did the match go?
Speaking of the game, Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat had called for the opposition to bat first after winning the toss. Thanks to Mitesh Patel’s 60-run innings and Vishnu Solanki’s 51 off 33 balls, Baroda was able to achieve 175/4 in 20 overs.
As luck would have it, Rayudu was unable to open his account and was thus dismissed on a golden duck by Jaydev, his counterpart. For the unversed, Saurashtra’s opening match against Gujarat had to be abandoned owing to rain, while Baroda had already won their opening match in the current Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group D.
