The Hundred 2023: On Sunday, August 13, Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals squared off at Headingley Stadium in Leeds for the 18th game in The Hundred Women’s competition. Amidst all the buzz, it was star cricketer Sophie Ecclestone’s caught & bowled that became instantly viral on social media.

In the course of the game, Sophie Ecclestone, a bowler from Manchester Originals, displayed a spectacular feat by taking an exceptional catch off her own bowling. This dismissal saw the departure of Superchargers’ batter Phoebe Litchfield when their score was 84/2. As Litchfield played a forceful drive, Ecclestone adeptly intercepted the straight trajectory of the ball and secured the catch with ease. Demonstrating excellent fielding skills, the Manchester skipper elevated both hands and turned with the ball’s momentum, showcasing remarkable agility and rapid reactions in snaring the catch.
Taking to Instagram, The hundred shared the video along with the caption, “Caught and bowled by one of the best in the business.” The video instantly spread like wildfire, courtesy Sophie’s fan following and the terrific catch she took. As of now, the video has garnered lakhs of views and over three thousand likes.

Presently, Northern Superchargers occupy the third position, while Manchester Originals hold the fourth spot in the standings. Superchargers have secured victories in three out of their four matches this season. Meanwhile, Originals have achieved one victory and suffered one defeat in the current season. Unfortunately, their initial two encounters against Welsh Fire and London Spirit had to be called off due to inclement weather.
