Riyan Parag: The young Indian all-rounder has been at the receiving end of many trolls over the past year. Many fans started trolling him for his unapologetic and confident behavior, but everyone kept forgetting how talented he is.
And in Deodhar Trophy 2023, the rising star showcased that brilliantly. Even though East Zone failed to clinch the title, Parag was the best player in the tournament. And that might have shut down every troll making fun of him.
He was the highest run scorer of the season and had the highest strike rate for a batsman who scored more than 60- runs this season. And once again, he lit the finals on fire with his blistering knock, making everyone his fan.
Riyan Parag Campaign In Numbers
The Rajasthan Royals player scored 354 runs this season with an average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 136.68. He scored two centuries in the group stage, and a valiant 95 runs knock in the finals.
He impressed everyone with the ball and took 11 wickets with an economy of just 4.84. The spinner was the third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament and the only bowler to take four wickets twice.
He earned the Player of the Tournament award despite his team losing the finals. This just shows how brilliant his campaign was and what he can do if he gets the chance in the right environment.
A New Record Broken
Parag scored 131 runs against North Zone in the group stage and hit 11 sixes in that game. He broke a 13-year-old record of Yusuf Pathan of hitting the most sixes in a Deodhar Trophy game.
After this tournament, Parag has amassed 1,688 runs in 48 List-A games with an average of 42.20. Ge gas also completed 50 List A wickets with an economy of just 4.93.
