BCCI secretary was furious over criticism of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma being rested for the Duleep Trophy

The absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the Duleep trophy was noticed by every Indian cricket fan. The fans were desperately waiting for the duo to hone their skills in the domestic circuit of the games.

With BCCI promoting the Duleep Trophy like never before, it felt like both the seniors would play in that tournament. After their recent WTC finals and Sri Lanka, it looked like it was evident.

But the fans were shocked and angry when they saw that both of them were not part of any of the squads released by BCCI. Jay Shah furiously answered the critics stating that the workload has to be managed.

Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Are Not Servants!

BCCI secretary Jay Shah emphasized the fact that they have to manage the workload of the senior players. To avoid the risk of injuries and stated that other top nations do the same for their biggest stars.

He stated, “It doesn’t make sense to add to Virat and Rohit’s load by asking them to play domestic cricket. They run the risk of getting injured.” It also needs to be mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah is also rested for the Duleep Trophy.

He further added, “You also need to look at England and Australia. None of their top players play domestic cricket. We must treat our players respectfully and not treat them like servants.”
