Border-Gavaskar Trophy is shaping up to be one of the most interesting series in the past decade. With Australians looking at their first test series win against India in a decade, India wants revenge for the WTC 2023 final loss.
The mind games have already started as Australians have started expressing their desire to win the series. Almost every Aussie has expressed how desperate and obsessed they are with winning the series,
Mitchell Starc even termed the upcoming BGT on par with Ashes. It is going to be a cinema when these two giants will collide in December. Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden also shared his views and stated that it will be a run fest.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy: A Run-Fest
Hayden stated that both Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are at a certain point in their career where they would like to dominate each other. He also thinks that with the retirement of Pujara, both these teams are similar.
He stated, “It’s going to be an unbelievable series, isn’t it? Historic series, and not without great minds coming together to make what is a premier tournament even more special by extending it to five Test matches.”
“I’m sure those two players(Kohli and Smith) that you mentioned, coming now to the latter pages of their cricketing career, will be very keen to dominate the landscape through the summer. That’s their nature – they do it in very different ways, very different styles. But certainly, they are the keys to the Australian summer.”
‘Not Retiring’
There were certain rumors that Steve Smith might be considering retirement. But he brushed past all those rumors and told everyone how much he was looking forward to the BGT.
He stated, “I don’t have any retirement plans. I’m looking forward to the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India is going to be a great challenge, they’re a very good side. We’re the two best Test teams in the world”.
