ODI World Cup 2023: The return of Ben Stokes in the white ball format has made England favorites for the upcoming tournament. The 32-year-old star all-rounder reversed his retirement after Jos Buttler had a talk with him.

The left-hander retired from the white ball format in July 2022 but will return for the World Cup 2023. And because of that, young star, Harry Brook has been dropped from England’s ODI squad.

While English fans are treating it as the return of their hero, former Australia captain Tim Paine had other ideas. According to the former Aussies captain, the decision by Stokes is kind of selfish.

‘Me, Me, Me

According to Tim Paine, the decision by Ben Stokes is selfish and he is kind of privileged. He further stated that he found the news of Stokes reversing his retirement ‘interesting.’

He further clarified that Stokes has the privilege of choosing when he wants to play and when he does not want to play. Paine thinks that it is unfair to all the players that have been playing cricket for the past 12 months.

Paine stated his thoughts about this in an interview with SEN Radio. He finished the statement with “The guys who played for 12 months, Sorry, thanks. But can you go and sit on the bench because I want to play now?”

He closed the interview by stating that Aussies can also lift the cup if they can get in form.
