ICC U19 World Cup 2024: Four Indian players, including skipper Uday Saharan and top batsman Musheer Khan, were included in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Under-19 World Cup roster on Monday. The other two Indian players selected for the team are spinner Soumya Pandey and batsman Sachin Dhaas. In the event final on Sunday, Australia had defeated India by a margin of 79 runs.

Hugh Wiebgen Crowned Tournament Team Captain

Hugh Wiebgen, the captain of Australia, has been named the tournament team captain. A group of journalists, broadcasters, and ICC representatives chose the squad. In addition to the four players from India, the ICC’s side of the Tournament also features two players from the host nation, South Africa, three players from the tournament winning side, Australia, and one player each from the West Indies and Pakistan.

India’s Impressive Streak Cut Short by Australia in Finals

Jamie Dunk of Scotland was chosen to be the team’s twelfth player. Up to the semifinals of the competition, India did not lose any games; however, they were defeated by Australia in the championship match. A similar incident occurred at the 2023 ODI World Cup. Up until the semifinals, the Indian team was unbeatable there as well, but Australia triumphed against India in the championship match to win the World Cup.
