No Ball: A disturbing event has been reported from Cuttack in Odisha, where an umpire was fatally stabbed during a community cricket game. According to reports, a disagreement arose between players after the umpire signalled a no-ball, leading to a heated argument that ultimately resulted in the tragic incident.
Umpire killed over ‘No-Ball’
The tragic incident occurred when an umpire named Lucky Raut was stabbed to death after displaying a no-ball signal that sparked a heated argument between the players. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Mahisalanda, Cuttack district. Sadly, Lucky Raut lost his life due to a violent outburst caused by the call of a no-ball signal.
According to officials, an eyewitness reported that the suspect, Muna Rout, used a sharp knife to stab Raut on the field in a fit of anger. Rout is currently on the run and still being sought by the police. This fight occurred between two under-18 cricket teams from Shankarpur and Berhampur.
Lucky Raut and Jaga Raut had a heated argument after he called a delivery a no-ball. Jaga contacted his brother Muna and explained the incident to him, who then came to the field in an enraged state and hit Lucky with a bat. This left Lucky with severe injuries and he was immediately taken to CB Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.
Murder Case Charged
After receiving information about the incident, locals immediately rushed to the spot. Following the incident, a murder case has been registered. Though, police is yet to comment on the situation and is currently investigating the case.
