Umran Malik: In the T20I series itself during the New Zealand tour, Umran Malik was anticipated to feature in the playing 11. On Friday, the Indian pacer finally received his ODI cap for the opening game of the three-game series against Kane Williamson’s team in Auckland.

The pacer finally got his chance and he utilised it good by taking two wickets—Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell—in addition to causing the New Zealand batters to tremble with his lightning-fast 150 kph thunderbolts.
After the first powerplay, captain Shikhar Dhawan introduced Umran into the attack. Williamson, with whom he shared a dressing room while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, sent his first ball at 145.9 kph and an in-angling length. With a similar delivery that came in at 149.6 kph, he ended the over by giving up just four singles.
India looks to continue winning streak
Mitchell was also dismissed by Umran in the 20th over for 11 runs on 16 balls. The batter mishit the speeding ball right to the fielder at deep point. Deepak Hooda successfully completed the catch as Umran took his second wicket. In total, he sent two deliveries at 150 kph during that spell.
Coming to the match, Dhawan’s 72 and Shreyas Iyer’s 76-ball 80 helped India reach to a target of 307. Washington Sundar’s cameo of 16 ball 37 played a major part in that. India had previously won the T20I series 1-0, with the first game being washed out and the third game ending in a draw with the DLS method.
